Biography
Linda Kong was born and raised in Canada. After graduation, she worked in London and Paris as an actuarial analyst. Two years later, she arrived in Chicago. During her time there, she worked as an actuarial analyst with an insurance company, obtained her MBA from Kellogg, took improv comedy classes at Second City, enjoyed stuffed pizza, met Oprah Winfrey...

and got involved with various Asian-American organizations. She now works as a Sr. Business Analyst at Clorox (buy Clorox products!)

Baare Speed Dating Interview

Baare: Do you participate in Baare's Speed Dating events?
Linda: I would love to, but someone has to make sure the event runs smoothly. Plus, I think it would be a conflict of interest as I do the scoring and I'd want to keep all the cute guys for myself! :) But that doesn't mean participants can't come up and talk to me. I love meeting new people at these events. And, by the way, I am not “Dear Maxine”.

Baare: What do you do when you're not organizing speed dating events?
Linda: I have volunteered at various organizations such as Taproot, Zeum and Hands On in San Francisco. My new interest du jour: ultimate Frisbee.

Baare: What is something about you that would surprise most people?
Linda: Despite the appearance of being strong, direct and confident to many people, I have this embarrassing tendency to cry at movies. I even cried when I watched “Finding Nemo”! And don’t even mention “Joy Luck Club”, I used up an entire pack of tissues!

Baare: What traits do you look for in a boyfriend?
Linda: Someone who is very confident with himself and well respected amongst his peers. Someone who understands my “Canadian sense of humor”. Guys who are funny, creative and willing to learn new things will get my attention (looking good in a tight T-shirt would get my attention too.)

Baare: How would your friends describe you?
Linda: Let’s talk about what I wish they would say (ha ha). I think they would say that I’m direct, funny, fairly organized, not as tough as I seem and mischievous. I’m also sarcastic (which I think many Californians are not used to).

Baare: What would your dream career be?
Linda: Besides being the official ice cream taster for Ben & Jerry’s, it would be a highly paid travel book writer.
