Life's short...so grin and Baare it!

Marie has appeared at past Baare events,
and plans to attend future Baare events.

Name: Marie
Height: 5’ 2”
Age: 31
Origin: San Francisco
Career: Radiologic Technologist

Marie’s interest in the structure of the human body during her pre-med studies at UC-Davis led her to an internship in radiology where she was first “exposed” (a little pun) to medical imaging which then led her to complete her second bachelor's degree at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

In addition to her educational pursuits, Marie has always followed her desire to be a multi-faceted person by pursuing a breadth of activities that have ranged from cooking to fencing, from acting to sign language, from sewing to swing dancing. It was just recently in the last few years that Marie realized that she had a latent talent for singing and can be found at karaoke bars with friends. However, she is not embarrassed to admit that she is quite “untalented” in sports and yet will still continue to try out different activities such as tennis, volleyball, swimming, or skiing. Next, she plans to attempt snowboarding. Any patient instructors out there?

BAARE: What would your dream job be?
Marie: If I had the resources and time I would pursue acting; I’ve had a lot of fun working as an extra on movie projects that have starred Brendan Frasier, Chris O’Donnell, Freddie Prinze Jr and have worked on the set of Nash Bridges. In addition, I have also appeared on some national and local commercials and independent film projects.

BAARE: What are some things about you that would surprise most people?
Marie: It’s taken me 16 years to get Jerry Rice’s autograph. Most guys are surprised to find out how much I know about football and what a big fan of the 49ers I can be when I watch a game. In college, I tried out for Jeopardy four times and was one step away from being chosen to be a contestant on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire.” Needless to say, I didn’t make either game show and have stopped watching those shows since. I’m a trivia junkie and would make a great Trivial Pursuit partner. Anyone for Cranium?

BAARE: What do you look for in a boyfriend?
Marie: Someone that I can intellectualize and emote with, have good conversations whether via an activity or doing nothing. He has to know a lot about a lot of things, a “jack of all trades.”

BAARE: How would your friends describe you?

Marie: Upbeat and Offbeat. Most people would say that I'm really outgoing and full of energy, even goofy. I think I'm really, boring; I don't care what they say!

BAARE: What lesson would you like to tell your younger self?
Marie: Life always has a way of working itself out. If you’re diligent and sincere in what you want, you can have anything you wish for.
