Vital Statistics
Name: Rainbow
Height: 5'-2"
Career: Career Management Advisor

In Her Own Words
My latest mantra: Begin with the end in mind, and live in the present with purpose. I learned that living with the end in mind is constraining and living in the moment can lead to hedonism. It’s all about finding the right balance, letting go of expectations, and embracing reality. My favorite phrase: “live love and love life.”

Baare Speed Dating Interview
Baare: You are among one of BAARE’s most busy participants! Between band practice (www.funkuband.com), social dance performances (www.decadance.org and www.ryanandmonica.com), etc… What other things do you plan to try within the next 5 years?
Rainbow: Go hang gliding (already did skydiving), live in Hawaii, and learn to meditate without falling asleep. Find that someone special, get married, start a family. Continue traveling, especially taking my dad to Europe for his first time! I’m also planning to start my own private career coaching practice.

Baare: What advice would you give yourself? And others? How does one identify what they’re passionate about??
Rainbow: Advice I’d give myself? Listen to the advice I give others and don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself and ask for what you’re worth.
Advice for others? Take time to create and follow your own definition of success. Revisit your career vision and values, always check in to make sure you’re still on your own unique path to happiness. Of course, there’s lots more advice I can offer; hence, the start of my private practice. Identifying passions? Remember what you loved as a kid. Think about what gets you excited and what activities put you in the flow so that you forget about time.

Baare: Who are your role models? Is there anyone that inspires you?
Rainbow: That’s a tough one…Different people have different traits that inspire me, I admire people who are living authentically and with intention. My dearest friends are those who truly care about their community- and who are there for me when I need them; whether they’re helping me with mundane stuff or being an encouraging shoulder to cry on. My mom is an extremely giving and generous woman, and I admire how much she’s given of herself to our family and our community.

Baare: What is something about you that would surprise most people?
Rainbow: I’m a pretty open person, so it’s difficult to surprise people. Although, I’m passionate about dancing and being active, I’m really starting to appreciate my downtime and continue to value thoughtful conversations about purpose and spirituality. However, if you really want to know why I’m nicknamed “Racy”….Actually, one thing that surprises people is that I grew up in North Carolina. I miss Bojangle’s Cajun fried chicken & mouthwatering hushpuppies! Thank goodness they finally got Krispie Kreme out here!

Baare: What traits do you look for in a boyfriend?
Rainbow: Fun yet deep. Sense of adventure -both good, clean fun and a little getting dirty ;) Bonus if he can dance has to love kids too! :) In my ideal relationship, I want to be soulfully connected yet independent--growing on my own so we can grow together strongly. Change is the only constant, so it’s about finding someone who’s got a strong foundation, openly communicates, and excited about growing together through all the changes in life. I want someone with whom I can celebrate all of me, and someone who I want to celebrate!
